Ingredients
  

  • 2/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2/3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 1/5 tbsp cinnamon (optional)
  • 2 tbsp salt
  • 1/2 cup whole milk
  • 2/3 pic large eggs
  • tbsp 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:

In a large or medium mixing bowl, thoroughly combine the flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cinnamon.

In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract together well.

Now add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients well and keep mixing well until a smooth batter is formed.

Heat about 1-2 inches of oil in a good Dutch oven or deep pan over medium-high heat to 345°F-350°F (170°C-175°C).

Once the oil is well heated, use a funnel to pour the batter into the pan, swirling the funnel to create a spiral or round shape.

Deep fry the cake for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown. Use tongs to flip the cake over, then fry the other side for an additional 2-3 minutes.

Now remove the cake from the pan or hot oil and drain the oil on a paper towel or tissue.

Dust with powdered sugar and enjoy the funnel cake while still warm.

Note: For a fancy Funnel Cake version you can add toppings like caramel sauce, chocolate sauce, or fruit preserves.
